You’ve probably heard that it takes “Drive” to make it in MLM. In fact, chances are it’s been beaten over your head so many times that you could recite it in your sleep. But there’s a bigger elephant looming in the room: Knowledge.
You see, knowledge makes all the difference in the world when it comes to building a successful home business. Drive is wonderful, but it’s like running a race – it doesn’t matter how fast you run if you’re not running in the right direction. In this sense, know-how is the compass that guides your drive. In fact, once you’ve set your bearings in the right direction, you’d be amazed at how much easier running an MLM business becomes.
Running An MLM Business: Work Smarter, Not Harder
While it’s true that there is no substitute for hard work, it’s important to realize that smart work is even more important. For illustrative purposes, imagine two ditch diggers: one is using a garden shovel and the other one is using a backhoe. Who will finish their ditch first? Obviously the guy in the backhoe – not that he didn’t work as hard (because he did while he was digging), it’s just that by the time the shovel guy finishes, the backhoe guy is already four or five steps ahead.
And guess who will likely burn out? That’s right, the shovel guy. If his back doesn’t break, his spirit certainly will.

What does it take to work smarter in MLM? Your first step is to take a leap backwards and evaluate everything. Why are you working the way you’re working? Why are you prospecting the way you’re prospecting? Why are you selling the way you’re selling? Is it because someone in your upline told you to do so? Or did you read it in a book? Chances are, these people are only regurgitating what other people have said – they’re not offering experience, rather they’re offering a long game of telephone.
And that’s not a game you want to play.
